			The OSCOLA for EndNote styles are starter kit for formatting cases, legislation, articles and books in footnotes in compliance with OSCOLA. Writers with their own computers and Endnote program should use OSCOLA 2. There are also styles for Endnote Web and Refworks. Archive of OSCOLA-Lite for Endnote 1. OSCOLA 2 for personal computers This OSCOLA style is a continuation of the OSCOLA-Lite styles. Libraries created using OSCOLA-Lite should work with OSCOLA 2. This style has customised reference types for cases and journals, which means it is essential to import the RefTypeTable to use these reference types properly. Configure OSCOLA 2 yourself: OSCOLA 2 do-it-yourself instructions 2. How to install OSCOLA 2 on your PC 1. Right-click on the link for "RefTypeTable.xml" and select 'Save Target As' from the list of options. 2. Save the file to your desktop or another area to which you have access 3. Repeat for the OSCOLA_2.ens file. To install the RefTypeTable: 4. Open Endnote. Go to Edit/Preferences/Reference Types. 5. Click on Import files and import "RefTypeTable.xml". 6. Check in the Journal Article reference type for the field called 'year if vols numbered consecutively' to ensure that the file has intalled correctly. To install the Style (oscola_2.ens) in recent versions of Endnote: 7. Close Endnote. 8. Launch Windows Explorer or My Computer and navigate to the location where you have saved the file. 9. Highlight the file and click on Edit, and then Copy 10. In Windows XP, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings and open the folder which shows your username e.g. JohnSmith. For Version X3, Open My Documents, then endnote 11. In Windows Vista, navigate to C:\Users and open the folder which shows your username. Create a file called Endnote, and within it create another file called Styles. Save the oscola_2.ens file in that Styles folder. (Note: If you create variations on the OSCOLA or other styles, they should also be saved there.) 12. If you have administrator access to the computer, it may be possible to save the style to the C:\Program Files\Endnote\Styles. 13. Open Endnote, choose to 'Select another style' from the drop down menu on the second top Endnote menu bar, and search for OSCOLA_2 in the Styles. Still can't see the OSCOLA style? If you are using VISTA and have created a new Styles folder as suggested in step 11, you may not see the OSCOLA style as suggested in step 13. In this case, go to Edit/Preferences, and in Folder Locations, Style folder, use Select Folder to navigate to the Styles folder you created. Click apply, and then OK. OSCOLA should then appear in the styles list when you try to select another style 3. How to install OSCOLA 2 on your Mac 1. Right-click on the link for "RefTypeTable.xml" and select 'Save Target As' from the list of options. 2. Save the file to your desktop or another area to which you have access 3. Repeat for the OSCOLA_2.ens file. To install the RefTypeTable: 4. Open Endnote. Go to Endnote X2/Preferences/Reference Types. 5. Click on Import files and import "RefTypeTable.xml". 6. Check in the Journal Article reference type for the field called 'year if vols numbered consecutively' to ensure that the file has intalled correctly. To install the Style (oscola_2.ens): 7. Open Applications, where you will see an EndNote folder. 8. Inside the Endnote folder you will find the Styles folder: save the Endnote style into that. 9. In Endnote, choose to select a new style, and search for OSCOLA.   4. Simple/Web/Server style for OSCOLA This style shows all journal citations with parentheses (round brackets) around the year - some journal citations need to be modified after field codes have been removed (see OSCOLA guide for more information). Unlike the more complex OSCOLA 2 style, which is recommended for writers using their own computers, this style can be used without uploading a new 'RefTypeTable'. Variations from this guide are noted in the field comments in Refworks.   5. The journals terms list This file contains all the journal abbreviations in OSCOLA. If you download and import it, the abbreviations will go into Endnote's 'Abbreviations 1' list, and OSCOLA 2 will then automatically abbreviate these journals. See your Endnote manual for more information. Download the file, and import it into Endnote using Tools/Terms list/Define terms lists. 6. Archive of OSCOLA-Lite for Endnote Archive of previous versions for existing users of OSCOLA with Endnote, with installation notes for Endnote 8, 9 and 10.
