The Centre for Socio-Legal
Studies is a research institute dedicated
to the study of law in its social context. The Centre places emphasis on both
empirical research and the development of the theoretical framework for that
research. It has pioneered the study of law in society in the United Kingdom and
continues to be a leading research institute of world renown for the better
understanding of law in its wider setting. In order to maintain a
multidisciplinary and inter-disciplinary approach, the research staff at the
Centre are drawn from the disciplines of Law, Sociology, Economics, Psychology
and Social Policy. The Centre's approach to research is to develop a number of
distinct programmes within which more specific projects are advanced. The larger
programmes are currently: Administrative Law and Rights of Citizens; Regulation
and Discretion; Business Finance and Law; Human Rights; Family Law and Policy;
Comparative Media Law and Policy;
International Law and Society. |
